Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak created by an undersea volcanic eruption
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is located in the easternmost part of Jeju Island and was created when a shallow underwater volcano erupted 100,000 years ago. Its height is 182 meters, its circumference is 1.5 kilometers, and the volcano surrounded by cliffs looks like a crown from a distance. In addition, the crater of Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is surrounded by 99 rocky peaks, and inside it is a vast meadow.
In 2007, it was registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site for the first time in Korea as Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Cave along with the Hallasan Natural Conservation Area rising in the center of the island.
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is so popular that it attracts more than 3 million tourists a year.
Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is surrounded by cliffs, and only the west is connected to the main island of Jeju with a gentle slope.
You can reach the top of such a mountain in about 30 minutes by walking slowly. At the foot of the mountain, a wide, stone trekking course was created, but the trail begins as it turns into a steep staircase.
On the way up, you can enjoy the strange rocks that were eroded by the rain, and there is also a view point where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery, so I recommend you to take a rest and go up^^
Climbing the steep stairs, you will find a wooden observatory space with a 360-degree view.
If you look to the east, there is a tubular crater about 600 meters in diameter under the snow, and if you look to the west, you can see the gentle foot of the mountain that you just walked and the street of Jeju. If the weather is nice, you can also check Hallasan Mountain, which is about 2,000 meters above sea level.
Most of the hiking trails that seem to be attached to the surface of the mountain are narrow stairs, so the uphill and downhill are on different routes, so each is one-way.
Even those who couldn't afford to enjoy the scenery on the uphill stairs can see themselves going down the hill while enjoying a commemorative photo.

If you go down the trail through the rocks, there is an active female diver performance twice a day.
Several haenyeo dance to the "Sound of a Haenyeo" and come out to the sea for game.
It's not a conventional demonstration where you hide clams on the rock in advance and lightly swim to capture them, but here it's a real battle. Once you're out of the sea, you can't go back empty-handed!Haenyeo's professionalism is on fire.
Haenyeo, who returned triumphantly after catching octopus, sells it to tourists among rocks. ^^
