Jeju Island, the largest island in Korea, is a clean area, so many unique cultures and customs remain. There are many attractions such as Hallasan National Park, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, Manjanggul Cave, and waterfalls, which are UNESCO World Natural Heritage Sites.

This time, I will introduce you to three things (Jeju Eastern World Natural Heritage Site, Seogwipo & Jungmun Tourist Complex, and Jeju City History and Culture) where you can see the beauty of Jeju and the lives of people living in Jeju.

 

1. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak

 

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak was formed by volcanic activity about 5,000 years ago and has a unique geological structure. The name Seongsan comes from the fact that the peak looks like a huge castle. 

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is one of the 10 scenic views of Jeju, and you can see the beautiful sunrise here. Seongsan Ojo Geological Trail Course, which surrounds Seongsan-ri and Ojori Village around Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, is famous among trekking lovers.Geological Trail is a walking course where you can experience Jeju's nature and culture, which is designated as a UNESCO World Geopark.Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak can be reached to the top from the hiking trail starting from the village at the foot, and you can see a crater about 264,000 square meters from the top.
Near Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, there is Seongsanpo Haenyeo Diving Fish Concert Hall where you can see the female diver diving

2. Seopjikoji

There is Seopjikoji about 7 minutes by car from Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and Seopjikoji is a narrow land in Jeju, meaning Cape, and Seopjikoji is protruding toward the sea.
The beautiful combination of the hill and the blue sea is a great place for many tourists to visit, and when you enter the entrance of the Seopjikoji Trail, you can see a pony grazing leisurely on the hill.
To the northeast, there is a peak called Red Oreum, and the white lighthouse at the top creates an exotic atmosphere. Seopjikoji has "Glass House" and "Yumin Art Museum" designed by world-famous architect Tadao Ando, and buildings that harmonize with nature without damaging the surrounding scenery are essential tourist attractions in Seopjikoji.

3. the rise of the dragon's eyes

You can't talk about Jeju Island without going to Oreum. As such, Oreum is a characteristic place like Jeju Island. Among the 360 oreum, Yongnun Oreum is located near Seopjikoji. There is a well-polished walkway and the road is relatively flat, so anyone can walk easily. You can see Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and Udo Island when you climb the mountain.

4. Bijarim Forest

The Bijarim Forest, near Yongnun Oreum, is densely populated with old trees, so you can see a jungle- Viza tree is the world's largest forest for a single species of tree. The Gaya tree, which is rooted here, is a 500-700-year-old tree, so it is also said to be a thousand-year-old forest.
The 800-year-old New Millennium Tree and Yeonri Tree with stems are the highlights.

5. Manjanggul Cave

Geomun Oreum, the only Jeju Oreum to be listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, creates a unique landscape. Geomun Oreum has more than 20 caves made by lava flows, and only Manjanggul Cave is open to the public.
The temperature in the cave remains between 11 and 21 degrees Celsius throughout the year, and the cave is as deep and magnificent as Hades' underground palace in Greek mythology.When you enter a cave that looks like an elaborate sculpture, there is a huge stone pillar that prevents you from going inside.You can feel the mystery of the underworld in Manjanggul Cave.

6. Jeongbang Falls and Walsong Art Museum

Seogwipo City, south of Jeju Island, is a warm area, so tourists from all over the world visit it all year round. Jeongbang Falls in Seogwipo City is one of Jeju's top three waterfalls, falling directly into the sea from a dizzying 23-meter-high cliff. 
The Waldjong Museum of Art, located right near Jeongbang Falls, is an art museum that displays the works of artist Yi Woljong, who has settled and been active in Jeju for decades.There are many works that express Jeju's beautiful nature with unique colors and techniques, and from the second floor of the museum, you can see the sea of Seogwipo at a glance.

7. Natural Sculptures Columnar Joints and Cheonjeyeon Falls

Jungmun Tourist Complex is a resort facility surrounded by abundant nature, and the columnar joint located near the Jeju International Convention Center in the complex is surrounded like a folding screen, making it an indispensable tourist attraction in Jungmun Tourist Complex. In addition, Cheonjeyeon Falls, a three-stage waterfall, is essential, and the water flowing down from the first waterfall becomes the second and third waterfalls and flows into the sea.

8. Teddy Bear Museum

In the Jungmun Tourist Complex, museums with various themes are gathered. 9. A place where you can learn about Jeju's history and culture

 

Yongduam Hermitage, a representative tourist attraction in Jeju-si, is a masterpiece of nature created by solidifying lava ejected into the sea and facing waves and wind for many years.

At the Jeju Folk Natural History Museum, you can see how Jeju people have lived since they settled on the island. Jeju Island has many unique living cultures that are different from the mainland of the Korean Peninsula, so you can visit museums and see interesting lifestyles. Right next to the museum is Samseonghyeol, which contains the birth myth of Jeju, and a 500-year-old old tree is thick to create a cozy atmosphere.
